How we can help

Planning and advocacy for the needs that come with later life.

An adult child may be securing care for an aging parent, a retiree may be preserving a legacy, or a family may need legal authority or an advocate for a loved one. Jarvis Law helps families identify appropriate protections and put them in place.

01

Elder estate planning

Create a plan that may include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives to protect an older adult’s wishes, family, assets, and peace of mind.

02

Guardianships and conservatorships

Help a family seek the legal authority needed to care for a loved one when that protection becomes necessary.

03

Elder Guardian ad Litem work

Serve as a legal advocate for an older adult who needs help ensuring that their interests are represented as fully as possible, including a person living with dementia.

04

Visits when they are needed

Offer home visits when desired as part of considering a GAL need, as well as home, hospital, and hospice visits when estate planning is urgent.

Urgent estate planning should not have to wait. Jarvis Law makes home, hospital, and hospice visits when those documents need to be put in place promptly.

Elder GAL work

A legal advocate for the older adult.

A Guardian ad Litem, or GAL, acts as a legal protector for an individual who needs one and works to ensure that person’s interests are represented to the greatest extent possible.

01

Begin with the individual

We first ask questions about the older adult for whom a GAL appointment is being considered.

02

Consider what is needed

The information gathered helps determine whether the individual may need a Guardian ad Litem.

03

Arrange a home visit

A home visit is one of the services Jarvis Law may offer when the family or individual would like one.

A personal approach

Start with the person, then identify the protection.

01

Tell us what is happening

We begin by learning about the older adult, the family’s concerns, and the legal need that brought you to us.

02

Identify the right service

The situation may call for estate planning, a guardianship or conservatorship, or Guardian ad Litem work.

03

Make the plan accessible

When needed, we can arrange a home visit or provide urgent estate planning at a home, hospital, or hospice.
